In an early version of the Pro/Pro Studio kettle firmware, pressing the smaller menu button did power on our kettles. However, this was changed in a later firmware update.
In the current version of the firmware, only the main dial button will power the kettle on.
Similarly, the menu button will only act as a way to enter the menu when the kettle is in heating mode, or as a back button when you're inside the menu.
We apologize for any confusion, but this change is completely normal once your kettle's firmware updates to the most recent version.
