Introduction
Aiden's descale message is set to appear every 150,000 mL and help you keep your brewer in the best condition possible. However, you may find yourself stuck in a recurring descale "loop" where the message continues to appear, and this article's aim is to give you the tools needed to fix that. Keep reading to learn how to clear the message and get back to brewing!
About the Descale Cycle
It's important to note here that Aiden's descale cycle is broken up into three main steps:
- A 16-minute descale process
- A 10-minute flush to help clear the lines of the solution
- A second 10-minute flush to help clear the lines of the solution
Between each step, your Aiden will prompt you to empty the carafe and refill the tank. In case it's helpful, we've attached a sped-up video of the entire cycle for reference below.
Step 1: Confirm the Descale Finished
As mentioned above, there will be breaks between the main steps so you can empty the carafe and refill the tank. If these aren't completed and you don't move forward to the next step within 5 minutes, the Aiden will go to sleep and not count the descale cycle as completed. Of course, the descale solution will still be doing its job.
We totally understand how easy it can be to forget that a descale is running, especially because of how long the steps are. However, if the Aiden falls asleep at any point in the process, it will continue to ask you to descale until you complete all three main parts.
Step 2: Factory Reset
If you've fully completed the descale cycle and your Aiden is still asking you to descale, factory resetting will clear the message for you.
PLEASE NOTE: Factory resetting will clear all of your custom profiles. Please make sure to copy or share any profiles you'd like to keep with yourself BEFORE initiating the reset.
In case it's helpful, we've included steps for factory resetting below, along with an example of what it looks like.
On your Aiden:
- From the main menu, go to "Settings"
- Select "Maintenance"
- Select "Factory Reset" & confirm
On the Fellow App:
- If your Aiden still appears in the app, select it
- Tap the settings "cog" in the top-right corner
- Select "Device Information"
- Select "Delete Device" & confirm
Once the factory reset has been completed and the Aiden has been removed (if it wasn't already), please reconnect your Aiden to your WiFi through the Fellow App.
