Each-Use Maintenance

Purge Steam Wand

The steam wand will auto-purge after every use. After it purges, wipe down the exterior with a bar towel.

Rinse Grouphead

After every shot, long-press the brew button to rinse the grouphead. This helps rinse coffee grounds from the shower head and keeps your espresso tasting best.

Daily Maintenance

Accessories (Tamper, Portafilter, Baskets, Steaming Pitcher)

Hand-wash the tamper and portafilter in warm soapy water, avoiding the wood handles (if applicable). Apply a food-safe mineral oil to the wood once a month and buff with a soft cloth.

The shot baskets and steaming pitcher are dishwasher safe.

Weekly Maintenance

Exterior

Clean the outside of the machine using only a soft, damp cloth. Paper towels or abrasive cloths and household cleaners may scratch or damage the finish. Do not run water over the machine or submerge it in water to clean.

Water Tank

Remove the water tank from the espresso machine and empty it. Hand wash with warm, soapy water. Use a soft-bristle brush to reach the bottom of the water tank. Dry the outside of the water tank and place it back in the espresso machine.

Drip Tray

Remove the drip tray, disassemble the surface panel, and hand-wash both with warm, soapy water. Note that when the drip tray is full, a red indicator will pop up.

Descale

We recommend descaling once every three months. The machine also tracks the volume of water used and will show a “DESCALE” notification when descaling is required based on your water testing results. To descale, follow these steps:

  1. Use one of the two provided packets of descaling powder. You can also use Fellow’s Descaling Concentrate (available here) or any other high-quality biodegradable and phosphate-free coffee machine liquid descaler. We don’t recommend using vinegar, as it is difficult to rinse from the machine thoroughly and may impact the flavor of the coffee.
  2. Add the correct dose of descaler to your water reservoir, according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Then fill with fresh water to the MAX line (2000 mL).
  3. Select the descale mode from the maintenance sub-menu and start the cycle. You’ll be guided through the remaining process step by step on screen.

Unclog Steam Wand

If your steam wand gets clogged and steam isn’t coming out, use the cleaning tool under the silicon top pad. Slot it into the tip of the steamwand to remove any buildup. You can also unscrew the steam wand tip to clean the interior.
