Aiden boasts many fantastic features but one we're most excited about is its deep integration with our Drops program. Want to know what Drops is and/or how it works with Aiden? Keep reading!
What is Drops?
If you're unfamiliar with Drops, it's our text-to-order coffee program that offers specially curated coffees every week. Users who are signed up (it's free, btw!) receive a text each Tuesday with information about that week's coffee, and ordering is as simple as texting back the number of bags you'd like to purchase. If you'd like more information or would like to sign up, please visit our Drops page here.
How does Aiden work with Drops?
One of the awesome things about Aiden is that you can have a nearly identical brewing experience with someone else. Knowing this, our expert coffee-curating team wanted to help take the brewing guesswork out of the Drops process! For each coffee released through Drops, a corresponding brew profile will be released for Aiden. That means that you can brew your coffee exactly like our Q Arabica Grader team does and get the most out of every cup!
How do I get Drops brewing profiles?
Automatic Download
As long as your Aiden is on firmware version 1.3.6 or later, and your Fellow - Brew with Aiden app is on version 1.1.0 or later, profiles will be downloaded directly into your Aiden automatically by the time your coffee arrives at your door! To check your firmware version, go to "Settings" > "About" > "Version" using the onboard dial.
Please note, your Aiden will store the 9 most recent Drops profiles automatically. When a new one is added, the oldest is removed from the list automatically. However, you can always find past Drops profiles by visiting the corresponding brew guide here!
Brew Guides
Each week, the Drops team produces a brew guide for each coffee. Along with instructions on how to brew the coffee manually through multiple methods, a link to download the brew profile is included as well!
For a complete list of our brew guides, visit our brew guide page here.
Where can I find Drops brew profiles once they're downloaded?
In Aiden
to see which Drops profiles you currently have in your Aiden...
- Choose "Edit profiles" from Aiden's main menu
- Scroll down to the "Fellow Drops" folder
- Click the dial to enter and view the profiles
Alternatively, they can be viewed in the same way when choosing a profile for a guided brew.
In the Fellow - Brew with Aiden app
- Tap the Aiden you'd like to view from the home screen
- You'll find all the active Drops profiles under the "Fellow Drops" drop-down menu (below the default "Fellow" profiles)
Want to edit a Drops brew profile or hold on to it long-term?
By default, Drops brew profiles that are automatically downloaded into your Aiden/app are unable to be edited and will disappear after about 7 weeks. However, downloading the profile manually from one of our brew guides will download it as a custom profile instead. This allows you to keep it as long as you'd like and edit it to your heart's content!
To do so, open one of our brew guides, tap on the profile link, and confirm the save to the Fellow- Brew with Aiden app. It's that easy!
