Espresso Series 1's portafilter and baskets are food-grade stainless steel! The ones with wooden accents feature real wood, and the black model's handle is aluminum. 

Are any parts that touch water or coffee made of plastic?

Our water tank is BPA-free plastic. All Espresso Series 1 water lines are high-strength reinforced silicone. We do not use Teflon tubing anywhere in the machine. The water dispersion block and steam wand tip are PPS, which is becoming popular in high-end espresso machines. The hot water exit is SUS304.
