You might find yourself in a situation where you need to remove or replace your Carter Lid Gasket (we recommend removing it for periodical cleaning). No worries, this is easy enough to do.
To remove, insert your implement between the gasket and the plastic threading of the lid and gently pull up on the gasket. So the gasket isn't accidentally damaged we recommend using something that isn't sharp for this. Keep pulling until the gasket is free. That's it, ready to hand wash, dry, and replace.
To install, lay the lid inside up. You should see a brushed steel cap that reads "Fellow". The gasket will have a flat side and a rounded side.
The flat side of the gasket should nest into the flat plastic ledge of the lid, just under the stainless cap. Another indicator is the small hole on the rounded side of the gasket, this should always be facing the same direction as the stainless cap.
With one side in, run your implement along the gasket in a circular motion nesting the rest of the flange into place. Make adjustments as needed.
If your lid looks like the one in the picture below, you are good to go.
