Stuck or Stubborn?
It's worth noting that sometimes, an Opus' outer burr can be really tight the first few times you remove it. That's not always the case, but it can happen based on factory tolerances. If you've been more gentle when trying to remove it, try adding a little more force when turning it counter-clockwise. Sometimes, all it takes is a little more oomph to get it out. From there, it should become progressively easier to remove.
What to Do when it's Truly Stuck
If you're unable to remove the burr with your hands, our next recommendation would be to try the following:
- Reinstall the load bin if it's not reattached already, ensuring it's locked into place by turning it clockwise
- Set the outer dial to setting 11 and run a 30-second grind cycle
- When the cycle finishes, remove the load bin and try removing the basket again by turning the wire handle counter-clockwise
If it's still stuck, try using a pair of pliers on the wire handle for more leverage. We've included a video below that demonstrates the process.
The important thing is to make sure the pliers are in contact with two parts of the handle. This ensures you'll be able to apply the extra leverage properly and will greatly increase your chances of removing the burr.
