Exterior:
We recommend using a non-abrasive damp cloth to wipe down the exterior and load bin of Opus.
Exit Chute/Anti-Static:
The anti-static technology will work best for about 60 cycles before it needs to be cleaned to operate at its peak performance. To clean it, remove the catch cup and use the Fellow cleaning brush (or another cleaning brush such as a clean makeup brush or a clean paintbrush) to “swipe” around the inside of the exit chute (where the coffee grounds come out). It's important to make sure the pins are as clear of coffee as possible, like in the image below. As a pro tip, we've found that using something to blow out extra coffee can work wonders for getting them clear!
Burrs:
Take the load bin off, remove the outer burr (twist it counter-clockwise using the wire handle and pull up), and brush the burrs with the Fellow cleaning brush (or another cleaning brush such as a clean makeup brush or a clean paintbrush).
Having trouble removing the outer burr? Try these steps!
- Reinstall the load bin if it's not reattached already, ensuring it's locked into place by turning it clockwise
- Set the outer dial to setting 11 and run a 30-second grind cycle
- When the cycle finishes, remove the load bin and try removing the basket again by turning the wire handle counter-clockwise
- If the above steps don't resolve the issue, try using a tool like needle-nose pliers to grip the burr wire and provide more torque for easier removal, as demonstrated here
